Ward 3 City Councilor-elect Angela Plassmann: Press Release on the Fires

To the Residents of Ward 3:

We are all devastated by the tragic events and loss of life that occurred in our neighborhood last night. I have been at the Fire Department all day to represent the concerns of residents and to find out what individuals should do to stay safe.

Some steps we can all take are:

  • Lock car doors
  • Leave outside lights on
  • Remove any trash or debris from porch areas or around the structure of homes
  • Install motion lights, if possible
  • Report any unusual persons or vehicles to the police
Let me assure you that the investigation is being conducted in a most professional and thorough way involving State and Northampton officials spearheaded by the District Attorney’s office. If you know of any information regarding the fires, no matter how insignificant it may seem, please call one of the following numbers:

Massachusetts Arson Hotline: 800-682-9229
Hampshire County Detective Bureau: 413-586-5150
Northampton Police Department: 413-587-1100

In the coming days, I will remain in close contact with public officials and neighborhood groups. I will post any meetings that may be scheduled for our neighborhood to address concerns. It’s my hope that we can unite as a community and work together to ensure our mutual safety. Please feel free to contact me with any concerns you may have.

Stay safe,

Angela Plassmann
