We are pleased to share this announcement from Casa Latina:
Hello everyone,
As a Casa Latina Board Member and volunteer, I am writing to invite you to our Third Annual Casa Latina Benefit Dance to help raise awareness of our programming, as well as to raise funds to continue our work within the community.
Casa Latina is the only organization in Hampshire County that is run by and focuses on the local Latino Community. Our purpose is to promote self-sufficiency and a sense of community among Latinos in the area. We do this by working directly with residents in developing our educational programs and by facilitating access to services based on our community’s needs and capacities. Our major programs are Information and Referral, the Medical Interpreting Program, and Community Education. As we all know, the economic climate is a bit shaky, and Casa Latina has struggled, as many other social service agencies in the area to continue to provide services and to stay afloat. Unfortunately, the recent budget cuts to many wonderful non-profit agencies have indeed affected us here at Casa Latina as well.
Casa Latina’s benefit dance will be held on Friday, October 22nd, 2010 at the Iron Horse Music Hall located on Center Street in Northampton, MA from 10pm until 2am. We are fortunate to have the salsa band Kultura Borikua as our premiere band for the evening (please check out their website www.kulturaborikua.com) as well as DJ Edgar Cancel, so be prepared to dance! Tickets are available for $20 in advance, and $25 at the door on day of event. Tickets are available in advance at Casa Latina, 140 Pine Street (Florence Community Center, Suite #5, Florence, MA 01062). Our office # is (413) 586-1569. As well, tickets for the event are available online at www.iheg.com or at the Northampton Box Office on Main Street in Northampton (413) 586-8686. If you are unable to attend, and would like to send a donation instead, you can send it to the mailing address above. A tax-exempt form will be promptly mailed to you for your donations. In addition, if you would like to help with volunteering for this event or future events, please contact us at the office.
Your attendance at this benefit dance on the 22nd of October and your ongoing support of our services to our community members is greatly appreciated. If you have any questions, or would like more information, please call us at Casa Latina’s main office (413) 586-1569.
Sincerely y Pa’lante Siempre,
Ms. Jacqueline Fernandez
